The reel casts and retrieves line, the anti-reverse lever works, the drag works, the reel spins freely, the bail works well, and the handle reels properly. The reel has been painted with metallic silver paint and sealed with a clear coat. This reel looks GREAT, but the paint job is not the same as the original factory job; it will not endure the same type of abuse that the original Garcia Mitchell 308 reel will. This reel is now better used as a show reel in a Garcia Mitchell collection than as a functioning fishing reel. It will function well as a fishing reel but the paint job will not endure use as a fishing reel. Please view photos to decide the condition of the reel for yourself.
