1973 Mitchell 441 Special, Automatic Bail Spinning Reel, with Box &

Mitchell 441 Special, automatic bail spinning reel, manufactured in France in 1973, for distribution in Europe, serial number B819725 engraved on the foot. Comes in black and red clam shell box with an extra spool in Mitchell container.
Only 19,243 of this model were manufactured, mostly for Garcia in the US. The Special 441 model was made in very limited quantities and is hard to find in any condition.

This reel has been used, and has light rubbing on the edges of the housing, the rotor and the foot where it attaches to the rod (see pictures). The reel is fully functioning with a smooth retrieve and working anti-reverse. The bail spring is strong and flips over with a light finger dab.
The box is solid, with a couple of small cracks and the yellow tray has a crack where the spool sits (see pictures). The extra spool is in a Mitchell plastic container with no cracks.
This is a very good condition, hard to find, fully functioning, 50 year old reel, to fish with or add to a collection.
